Following a highly successful public reading in July 2016, and due to public demand, playwright Rob George and composer Dale Ringland’s musical play, In the Dome Room at Two O’clock will receive two staged performances. Based on a true story, the work centres around larger than life Australian entrepreneur Oscar Asche and his creation, with composer Frederick Norton, of the ‘musical than won World War One’, namely Chu Chin Chow. It’s a story of brilliance, egomania, excess, dignity and failure. Asche, along with his long-time partner Lily Brayton transformed the British stage, but ambition and arrogance can break the strongest bonds. With new music by Dale Ringland, interspersed with excerpts from the original Chu Chin Chow score, In the Dome Room at Two O’clock will transport you back to the forgotten, extravagant world of Edwardian theatre!
