Co-Opera will continue its Intermezzo Series in 2017 with an in depth project of Puccini’s La Boheme. The project will be led by distinguished Italian baritone Mario Bellanova.
Baritone Mario Bellanova began his study of singing at the Venice Music Conservatory and continued his Opera formation, including the German repertoire, at the Musikhochschule in Cologne. He made his Opera debut in Germany with the role of Taddeo in L’Italiana in Algiers in Cologne (Rossini), followed shortly after by Figaro in The Marriage of Figaro (Mozart).
In recent years Mario moved to Adelaide and has performed Germont (La Traviata, Verdi) where he was nominated for the Helpmann Award. His latest role was Scarpia (Tosca, Puccini) with SOSA at the Adelaide Festival, 2016.

The Accompanists’ Guild of S.A (AGSA) provides the opportunity for 6 to 8 secondary school pianists to gain experience in the art of accompanying and collaborative performance. In the Young Accompanists’ Showcase (YAS) the piano student is paired with a professional soloist with whom they rehearse and perform.
Following a highly successful public reading in July 2016, and due to public demand, playwright Rob George and composer Dale Ringland’s musical play, In the Dome Room at Two O’clock will receive two staged performances. Based on a true story, the work centres around larger than life Australian entrepreneur Oscar Asche and his creation, with composer Frederick Norton, of the ‘musical than won World War One’, namely Chu Chin Chow. It’s a story of brilliance, egomania, excess, dignity and failure. Asche, along with his long-time partner Lily Brayton transformed the British stage, but ambition and arrogance can break the strongest bonds. With new music by Dale Ringland, interspersed with excerpts from the original Chu Chin Chow score, In the Dome Room at Two O’clock will transport you back to the forgotten, extravagant world of Edwardian theatre!
Concerts at Christ Church, North Adelaide.
Christ Church North Adelaide continues its 2016 Concert series with Sacred Song on Sunday 18 September, featuring soprano Naomi Hede and organist Andrew Georg.
The centrepiece is Henryk Górecki’s O Domina Nostra. Composed ten years after his famous Symphony of Sorrowful Songs, this is a monumental meditation for soprano and organ.
Alongside this, Naomi and Andrew will perform popular works from the vast sacred music repertoire.
Naomi Hede studied singing in Adelaide, Edinburgh and London. She has performed as guest soloist with many Adelaide choirs and orchestras and with the State Opera of SA, most recently appearing as Pamina in Mozart’s The Magic Flute.

Freemason's Great Hall, North Terrace, Adelaide, SA.
Mozart’s classic Masonic story is brought to life in a new production created especially for staging in the Freemasons Great Hall. As the Earth falls beneath the shadow of a total solar eclipse, Tamino finds himself in a mysterious new world where surreal is his new reality. Pushed and pulled by opposing forces, he encounters strange creatures, true love and a series of epic, transformative trials. Director and designer David Lampard’s new vision for this popular opera draws inspiration from the elegance of masonic symbolism, focused through a 1950’s lens to create a vintage fantasy that explores social issues both timeless and contemporary.
The production will feature a who’s who of established and emerging South Australian operatic talent including Joanna McWaters as Queen of the Night and Robert England as Sarastro, with the Adelaide Symphony Orchestra conducted by Luke Dollman. The Magic Flute will be sung in English, in an intimate setting that will truly transport you to another era. This was one of Mozart’s last and undeniably lasting works, and has been a favourite with adults and children alike for more than two centuries. It’s a wonderful opportunity to experience the beauty of Mozart’s music but you’ll need to book early. Seats are genuinely limited.
